I don’t normally do this, but I wanted to draw your attention to an important book recently published and edited by my friend, Peter Kwasniewski . “Ultramontanism & Tradition” is a collection of essays on the topic of ultramontanism, the 19th century movement which sought to centralize authority in the papacy as a response the social upheavals of that era. The topic of the “imperial papacy” is a hot one these days, especially in traditional Catholic circles, and these essays give a range of views on this topic which I don’t think you will find elsewhere. (There are also four essays by yours truly in this collection as well.) If you would like to learn more about how the history of the papacy and the Church in recent times affects us today, this is a good place to start. You can find it on Os Justi website or through Amazon.
Cheers!
